Intelligent Speed Adaptation - Part 1 - definition

De momento estou a fazer uma revisão bibliográfica acerca dos sistemas de ISA - Intelligent Speed Adaptation, i.e., sistemas que usam informação acerca da posição do veículo nas estradas em relação ao limite de velocidade de determinada zona para avisar o condutor ou limitar o ultrapassar dos limites de velocidade.

Pretendo enquadrar o tema do excesso de velocidade e dar a conhecer a percepção dos condutores em relação a este tema. No entanto, o foco central do trabalho é esclarecer o leitor sobre o sistema, consequências da sua utilização, aceitação pelos condutores entre outros aspectos.

Dado que o trabalho vai ser apresentado em inglês vou aproveitar para transcrever alguns excertos nessa língua. Aqui fica o primeiro.

Usually ISA is divided in categories depending on how intervening or permissive the system is: (SafetyNet, 2009; Dft, 2008; Goodwin et al. 2009):

- Open/Advisory/Supportive – informs/warns the driver that the speed limit is being exceeded and the driver decides whether he/she wants to slow down;

- Half-open/Voluntary – restrains speed to the speed limit for the road while allowing the driver to override the system (for example, the active accelerator pedal that increases the pressure on the accelerator pedal when speed limit is exceeded) and;

- Closed/Mandatory/Non-overridable - limits the speed automatically if the speed limit is exceeded without the possibility to override.

Tapio et al. (2002) also refer a Recording category when driver’s speed behaviour is recorded.
